Food safety is of great concern to premium paying markets throughout the world. At this stage there has not been obvious premiums flowing back to growers via the large marketing organisations. Quality Assurance is about clearly demonstrating to customers that food safety is important and that management practices have been put into place to ensure and demonstrate that the food is safe. Flinders Ranges Premium Grain Pty Ltd is implementing a Quality Management System, which has incorporated food safety through Quality Assurance based on the QA system "Solutions for Grains". QA Solutions is based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) principals and has been developed by Rural Solutions SA (a commercial unit of Primary Industries and Resources SA) in collaboration with the Grain and Wine Industries. HACCP is the internationally recognised method of managing food safety risks and is a critical component of any food safety plan. The Quality Management System focuses on Good Agricultural Practice (GAP), which helps manage food safety and minimise the risks on-farm. You the customer can be confident that the wheat used in Flinders Ranges Premium Grain Pty Ltd products is reliably and consistently safe. When food is produced under a Quality Management System the producer or grower has implemented a management system that has the least impact on the environment as possible. The system also ensures that management is continually monitored and improved.
